Understanding your payment options and cancellation rights

Overview

GrammarGage offers optional supporter tiers through voluntary donations and subscriptions. This page explains our refund policies, cancellation procedures, and your rights as a supporter or patron. For complete terms, please see our Terms & Conditions.

One-Time Donations (Supporter Tier)

Refund Policy

All one-time donations to GrammarGage are voluntary contributions and are generally non-refundable. Your donation helps us keep the service free and supports ongoing development.

Exception: Payment Errors

If you believe a charge was made in error or without your authorization, please contact us within 14 days of the transaction. We will review your case and may issue a refund at our discretion.

What to Include in Your Request

  • Transaction date and amount
  • Payment platform used (Stripe, Ko-fi, Patreon, or Telegram Stars)
  • Email address associated with the payment
  • Detailed explanation of the issue
  • Transaction ID or receipt (if available)

Recurring Subscriptions (Patron Tier)

Cancellation Rights

You may cancel your subscription at any time with no penalties or fees. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of your current billing period. You will retain all Patron benefits during this grace period.

No Partial Refunds

We do not provide partial refunds for unused time within a billing cycle. If you cancel on day 15 of a monthly subscription, you will continue to have access through day 30, but no refund will be issued for days 16-30.

How to Cancel by Platform

Stripe Subscriptions

Self-Service Cancellation:

  1. Access your Stripe customer portal (link provided in payment receipt email)
  2. Navigate to "Subscriptions"
  3. Click "Cancel Subscription"
  4. Confirm cancellation

Email Support: If you cannot access the portal, email us at support@grammargage.com with your email address and we'll cancel it for you.

Ko-fi Monthly Memberships

Self-Service Cancellation:

  1. Log in to your Ko-fi account at ko-fi.com
  2. Go to "Settings" → "Memberships"
  3. Find GrammarGage (asyazwan) in your active memberships
  4. Click "Cancel Membership"
  5. Confirm cancellation

Patreon Subscriptions

Self-Service Cancellation:

  1. Log in to your Patreon account at patreon.com
  2. Go to "Settings" → "Memberships"
  3. Find GrammarGage (asyazwan) in your active memberships
  4. Click "Edit" → "Edit or Cancel Membership"
  5. Select "Cancel Membership" and confirm

Telegram Stars Subscriptions

Contact Support:

Telegram Stars subscriptions require manual cancellation. Please email us at support@grammargage.com with:

  • Your Telegram username or user ID
  • Subscription start date (if known)
  • Subject line: "Cancel Telegram Stars Subscription"

We will process your cancellation within 24 hours and confirm via email.

Cancellation Confirmation

After cancelling through any platform, you should receive:

  • Immediate confirmation from the payment platform
  • Your Patron badge will remain active until the end of your billing period
  • No further charges will be made to your payment method
  • You can resubscribe at any time if you change your mind

Refund Processing

Approval Process

All refund requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. We aim to respond to requests within 1-2 weeks. Approved refunds will be processed according to the timeline below.

Processing Timeline

  • Stripe: 5-10 business days after approval
  • Ko-fi: 7-14 business days after approval
  • Patreon: Managed by Patreon - contact their support directly
  • Telegram Stars: 3-7 business days after approval

Note: Actual refund timing may vary based on your bank or payment provider's processing schedule. International transactions may take longer.

Refund Method

All refunds are processed through the original payment method used for the transaction. We cannot issue refunds to a different payment method or account.

Impact on Supporter Benefits

If a refund is approved and processed:

  • Your supporter badge will be immediately removed
  • Access to Patron-exclusive features will be revoked
  • Your listing on the Credits page will be removed (optional - let us know if you'd like to keep it)
  • You may re-donate or resubscribe at any time to restore benefits

Chargebacks & Payment Disputes

Please Contact Us First

Before initiating a chargeback with your bank or payment provider, please contact us at support@grammargage.com. Most issues can be resolved quickly and amicably through direct communication.

Chargeback Policy

If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank/payment provider without first contacting us, we reserve the right to:

  • Immediately terminate your GrammarGage account
  • Revoke all supporter tier benefits
  • Remove your listing from the Credits page
  • Permanently ban your account from future supporter tiers

Why? Chargebacks incur significant fees for small projects like ours (typically $15-25 per chargeback). We're happy to work with you directly to resolve any legitimate issues.

Fraudulent Chargebacks

Chargebacks initiated for donations or subscriptions that were authorized and received as promised are considered fraud. We will provide evidence to payment processors and may pursue additional action in cases of deliberate chargeback fraud.

Subscription Price Changes

Advance Notice

If we increase subscription pricing, existing subscribers will receive 30 days advance notice via email. Your current rate will remain unchanged for 30 days after the announcement.

Your Options

During the 30-day notice period, you may:

  • Continue at the new rate: No action needed - your subscription will automatically renew at the new price
  • Cancel before the change: Cancel anytime during the notice period to avoid the new pricing
  • Lock in current rate: Some platforms (like Patreon) may offer grandfathered pricing - check with your platform
